How Do I Make A Physical Therapy Appointment?

When your doctor gives you a referral for physical therapy, you may be treated at the facility of your choice. Make sure that the clinic you choose is an approved provider for your insurance plan.

You can arrange an appointment by phone or in person, usually within 24 hours. If you find that you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please notify the clinic as soon as possible.

What Do I Bring to Physical Therapy?

If you are currently wearing a protective brace, using a walker, cane or crutches for ambulation, or using a sliding board to transfer from a wheelchair, please bring these items with you.

Wear or bring comfortable clothing. Also, bring your health insurance
card(s) so that the facility may initiate proper billing for your services.

How Should I Dress For Physical Therapy?

We suggest wearing comfortable clothing that can be removed from the area being treated if necessary. It is advisable to have shorts with you for examination of the legs.

Patients may choose to wear shorts and a T-shirt under sweats. The sweats can easily be removed if the patient becomes overly warm during the course of exercise or other phases of treatment.

How Long Will My First Treatment Take?

Plan on spending 45 to 90 minutes for your first session. The length of each session varies with the type of treatment given, the severity of the problem and your physical response to evaluation and treatment.
